Simple explanation
Coverage and revision
The final exam draws one structural or meaning question from each of 16 core lessons; practice draws a six-question sample. Each source has one structural and one meaning variant per mode. Exam results and keys appear after every answer has been submitted. Mastery requires 80%; this reviews the grammar path and does not award an official language certificate.
Score and history
A submitted answer is final for this attempt. Passing this review does not automatically mark other lessons read or mastered. Source-lesson links appear after completion to guide revision. Self-assessment writing is not part of the automated score.

Common mistakes
- ❌ Diesen Vorschlag ich habe gestern gemacht. ✅ Diesen Vorschlag habe ich gestern gemacht. In a verb-second declarative, the prefield normally contains a constituent rather than one word: Nach der langen Sitzung habe ich geschrieben. A fronted object retains its case; Diesen Bericht remains an object. Do not extend verb-second to every main clause: yes/no questions and imperatives use other patterns. An embedded clause has its own frame, with dass normally placing the finite verb in the closing field.
- ❌ Er muss den Schlüssel verloren hat. ✅ Er muss den Schlüssel verloren haben. The perfect infinitive contains Partizip II and haben or sein. The embedded lexical verb selects the auxiliary: verloren haben and angekommen sein. The finite modal stands before this group.
- ❌ Der Antrag wird nach Eingang der Unterlagen prüfen. ✅ Der Antrag wird nach Eingang der Unterlagen geprüft. Official texts often use passive structures because the process or result is more important than the individual person performing the action.
- ❌ Nicht der Preis entscheidet, obwohl die Qualität. ✅ Nicht der Preis entscheidet, sondern die Qualität. Structures like nicht A, sondern B highlight differences and correct expectations by focusing attention on the second element.
Learning tips
- The final exam draws one structural or meaning question from each of 16 core lessons; practice draws a six-question sample. Each source has one structural and one meaning variant per mode. Exam results and keys appear after every answer has been submitted. Mastery requires 80%; this reviews the grammar path and does not award an official language certificate.
Produce and revise deliberately
Write a short target-language text for the situation below, then revise two sentences for an explicit purpose. The model illustrates choices; you need not copy its facts. Explain how each revision changes meaning or communicative effect. This is self-assessment: free writing is not automatically graded, and the test score is separate.
- Choose a real or imagined situation involving “German C2 grammar: final review”.
- Use two table patterns while preserving agent, time and claim scope.
- Revise for a different reader and explain what remained constant.
Show the model
Ich habe gestern den Bericht geschrieben. Der Wissenschaftler erklärt, dass die Theorie, die vor vielen Jahren entwickelt wurde, noch heute relevant ist. Keine Ahnung. Der Lehrer sagte dem Schüler, dass er die Aufgabe verbessern müsse.
Check your own work
- Referents and roles are clear.
- Time, modality and negative scope fit the intended meaning.
- I can justify the construction and each revision.
