Germany's official government portal has updated the 2026 requirements for vocational-training visas. A confirmed training place, usually B1 German and secure living costs are central requirements.
How much income or funding is required?
Living costs are considered secure when the training allowance is at least €1,048 gross or €822 net per month. If it is lower, the gap can generally be covered with a blocked account or Declaration of Commitment.
The statutory minimum first-year training pay in 2026 is €724 per month. This is not the same as the visa funding threshold; many occupations pay more.
If you do not yet have a contract
Eligible applicants may use the visa for seeking a training place for up to nine months. Key conditions normally include being under 35, having an eligible school qualification, B1 German and proof of €1,091 per month. Work up to 20 hours weekly and trial work totalling two weeks are permitted.
Practical checklist
- Verify the contract and exact recognised occupation.
- Prepare language evidence accepted by the mission.
