telc has announced that Deutsch-Test für den Beruf (DTB) exams will become mandatory digital tests on 1 May 2027. These exams conclude vocational German courses at A2, B1, B2 and C1 and will run on DIGItelc 2.0.
Who is affected?
The change concerns DTB exams connected to Berufssprachkurse, not automatically every general telc exam. Candidates will use approved centres and specified infrastructure; the announcement does not create an at-home test.
telc says operational information has been released progressively since September 2026. Centre preparation and staff training run from the fourth quarter of 2026 to launch. Digital practice tests are also planned.
How to prepare
- Practise with a German keyboard, mouse and headset.
- Ask whether your booking is a DTB or a general telc certificate.
- Use official digital sample tests when released.
